Subway Station

You don’t look at each other on the subway.” — Simon Pegg

This Week’s Photography Challenge: Symmetry

For this challenge I wanted to create a photograph reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick’s work, using one-point perspective as he so often did.

I decided to do this at a San Francisco subway station, a building that I have often admired for it’s uniquely beautiful architecture.

I didn’t want to capture a bunch of people in the photo, so I went to the station during off-hours and waited and waited until there were as little activity there as possible. I finally got this shot which only includes the station attendant in his booth and the woman walking towards the stairs in the back. I was glad that she was walking in a spot that contributed to the one-point perspective.
