Movie House

Movie House

“I mean, the whole idea of movies was it was special to go to see – you went to a movie theater to see something that was magical and amazing, in a very special location.” ― Bob Balaban

Photography Challenge: Cross-Processing Effects

For this project I photographed Portland Oregon’s gorgeous old Bagdad Theater and applied some custom cross-processing effects and grain in Photoshop to give the photo a vintage look.

Here’s the original photo that I worked from:

  1. What a beauty! My Uncle Earlyon was an accomplished artist who lived in San Francisco until his death. He sometimes painted movie theatres like the one in your photograph with beautiful murals. Every time I see one of those theatres, I think of Earlyon. What a lovely photograph, and the way it captures the feel of the.neon at dusk is so perfect.

  2. John you just made my day with your lovely comments and feedback, thank you so much! I would love to see photos of your uncle’s murals sometime, they sound wonderful. You certainly did your share to instill in me a love of great movies and movie theaters! 🙂
